Ore station will benefit from a much brighter look thanks to the latest station partnership set up by the Sussex Community Rail Partnership (SCRP), between Southern and a local transport group.
On Tuesday 14 March, Trevor Davies, from Ore Transport Group, met with SCRP’s Kevin Barry and Ore Station Manager, Simon Greenfield at the station to complete the process of officially adopting the station.
The group will now add new planters to the station, jointly funded by Southern and the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP). Other plans for future work at the station include the possibility of adding artwork produced by youngsters in the local area.
Simon said: “We have a number of station partnerships across the network and I’m delighted to welcome the latest addition. These relationships really help to further tailor stations to the communities they serve and improve the experience for all. My thanks to Kevin and Trevor for everything they have done so far and I look forward to working with them in the future.”
Kevin added: “We have a number of station partnerships along the Marshlink, adding beautiful flower displays and art. I’ve always thought Ore was crying out for an extra green touch and I’m really pleased to see how everyone working together will help to make this happen. My thanks to Trevor, Ore Transport Group, Southern and ACoRP.”
Trevor said: “I am very pleased that our partnership will make Ore station more welcoming and raise its profile. We aim to increase public awareness of the regular services locally along the coast, and further to Brighton, Gatwick, and London. We look forward to building on the already greater number of passengers using Ore station and attracting volunteers who are able to help us achieve our aims.”
Southern now has over 65 station partnerships, with over 50% of stations on lines covered by SCRP now adopted.
